Congratulations Kennard Jones of the York Revolution
Extra Innings Upper Marlboro would like to congratulate Kennard Jones of the York Revolution for being named to the Post Season Atlantic League All-Star Team! Kennard is an active advisor and guest instructor at Extra Innings. Hopefully he will be assisting us this winter with some of our clinics and private instruction! We are proud to have played a small part in his workout regimen and wish him continued success in his professional aspirations! Great Job! Below please find a clip from the York Revolution: Perhaps the Revolution’s biggest sparkplug this season was centerfielder Kennard Jones (Beltsville, MD). After beginning the season with the Bowie Baysox of the Eastern League in the Baltimore Orioles organization, Jones signed with York on June 14, immediately making his presence felt. On June 30 at Sovereign Bank Stadium against Newark, he stamped an exclamation point on one of the most memorable games in league history by going 6-for-6 at the plate, which included a walk-off three run homer to right field to win it 10-7 in the 10th inning. In all, Jones batted .333 with 8 home runs and 49 RBI in 88 games, many of which were spent hitting leadoff. Jones was also arguably the best athlete in the Atlantic League in 2008, swiping 17 bases and fielding his position as well as anybody, often wowing the crowd with over-the-shoulder and diving catches in center. Jones committed just three errors this season. The seven-year pro spent 2002 through 2007 with the San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles organizations, after being named Big Ten Player of The Year at Indiana University.
